Hi, I'm Ibrahim!
I am an Applied Machine Learning Researcher with a strong background in statistics and artificial intelligence. I hold a Master of Science in Advanced Computing from Imperial College London, and an engineering degree from the École Polytechnique, where I specialized in data science and AI.
Recently, I've been interested in sub-fields of machine learning and neurosciences, and in particular self-motivated learning and understanding how humans learn. Among other things, I am curious about the nascent intersection of large language models and reinforcement learning to try to endow agents with autonomy and curiosity.
I was born and grew up in Senegal to a French-Lebanese father and a Brazilian-Lebanese mother. As hobbies, I always like a good game of basketball with friends, reading —from novels and poetry to history and geopolitics— and learning about scientific subjects such as climate, astrophysics or archeology. I enjoy travelling the world to expand my understanding of different cultures, and I am trying to get decent at photography, without much success yet !

Research on using drones for continuous and/or real-time monitoring in smart cities, e.g. for internal inspection of tunnels and pipelines or for monitoring critical infrastructure such as cranes.

Cancer Research Center of Toulouse, France
Built models to predict expected survival and the treatment choice of an expert hematologist for Acute Myeloid Leukemia patients and used Shapley values to showcase and interpret the features’ importance and influence on models.

Designed and compared algorithms leveraging Machine Learning methods (k-NN, Random Forests) and Deep Learning models (using PyTorch) to improve detection of material flaws with nondestructive testing.
